So, we have made it this far and learned a ton. The salon is doing well. We have 5 hairdresssers who work here and James & Matthew.
Matthew has been super booked. I (James) am still trying to get some clients. It is really hard so far. WIth having a full time job and the economy the way it is. But from time to time I get some. So, if you know anyone looking for a fun hairdresser.....well maybe just talented. Send them my way.
We did a little open house the other night. It was fun but got out of control. But in a good way.
So, now we are counting down to the end of the year. I am excited for what next year will bring.

So, thanks to Carlos, Carlos, and IKEA the salon is really starting to get it's personality. I think you can start to see how great it will look!
We went to Fry's today to get the POS System, Best Buy to get a small computer ( about 5 times more expensive than the stupid computer I bought in Hoboken). We also went to IKEA and got a desk for the front, some retail shelves, and got a lot more IDEAs for furniture, bits and pieces, and some cool decorating accents.

Ilana Weiner is coming in for Inspire by Koleston Perfect haircolor & cut. Our goal is to make a sassoon cut work for her hair and to match her hair to her handbag!!!!With Inspire it can happen.

Matthew on Who are You Wearing
So, last night was the premier of the new show ' Who are you wearing? '. It is on TLC. It is a show about a group of designers who compete to design a dress for a celebrity.
So, Allison Sweeney (Days of Our Lives & Biggest Loser) is the celeb for the week. At one point in the show you see Matthew doing hair and Diedre doing make up.
No credit for Matthew but being in the shot is awesome.

so, this has been a very frustrating process. Our landlord had agreed to repair the roof prior to us taking the keys (aug 1). When we got the keys we asked and they said yes they had repaired the roof. We asked for a warrantee from the installer for insurance. Of course, they didn't have that because the guy was just some friend of the owner.
So, we had to get our Lawyer involved. Stephen Hyam, he is great. So, the last two days we have had the roofers on site. They had to remove the roof and replace it. Yesterday when I drove by I noticed the skylights were removed. I hope they fix them as they have cracks and red spraypaint on them.
I think Carlos has most of the painting done. We are taking the florescent light fixtures there today for him to install.
Next on the list after Carlos is the installation of the new airconditioner (like Maya's) and install the floor.
We are now at double our budget!!! We have just enough to cover all those costs. Now for set up (towels etc) we need to break out the credit cards!!!
We are meeting with some hairdressers in the next few days and hopefully will have a few people who will be there with us.
It's all coming together now!!

We were robbed!
We got broken in to!!!! Carlos, called on thursday morning and said that we had a brick through the front door and his tools were stolen. UGH.
So, we decided to get an alarm system put in and we are getting new doors installed.

Shelley's tresses are kept up by Matthew Holman, the show's stylist! Did I mention I've been daydreaming while writing this? I'd love to hang out in his chair for the day and see what he can do with my mane

We signed the lease today! It is a done deal. No turning back. Matthew Ray Salon is on the map!

If all goes well, we will open by Sept 1 (or nearest as it is Labor Day!)
